Royal County Down

Royal County Down golf course is one of the beautiful courses, built by Old Tom Morris in 1889. Further, in 1900, it was remodeled by George Combe and in 1996 Harry Colt brought some new changes in this course. It was the first course in the countryside and counted in the best golf courses with an average ranking of 82.92.

This course spreads over 7200 yards and its two holes are world famous. The main tournaments played here are: Senior British Open Championship in 2001 and Walker Cup of 2007 in which USA won against Britain and Ireland. Other notable championships are The Amateur Championship of 1970 and Curtis Cup of 1968. It is hosting British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship for a long period of 1899 to 2006. Now the significance of this course can be imagined, and that’s why it is included in the best golf courses.
